I'll be honest and admit that (on a personal level) I hadn't quite bought into the whole "parkrun" thing. It's obviously an amazing initiative and as soon as I was aware of it I signed up for the newsletter and checked out the impressive weekly participation figures (the current record is just over 22,000 from Saturday 8 September), but I wasn't convinced I'd actually do one, more out of laziness than anything else; a 9am start on what can be a rare Saturday off just wasn't massively appealing.

Paul Martelletti and Amy Whitehead took the UK Half Marathon Championship honours with their respective victories in the Perkins Great Eastern Run in Peterborough on Sunday (14 October), the fifth and final race of the 2012 runbritain Grand Prix, but the overall Grand Prix titles went to Mike Skinner and Getenesh Tamirat who took home £3000 each for their efforts across the Series.
